Nikkohm Co.,Ltd. – Advanced Thin Film Technology
Nikkohm is a manufacturer of fixed resistors founded since 1966. Nikkohm Co.,Ltd. – Advanced Thin Film Technology
Since 1966, when Nikkohm was established in Misawa Japan, the manufacturer has supplied long life, high quality and unique resistive electronic components. Nikkohm does not focus on producing commodity parts, but resistive components which feature very long life, very low failure rate, low TCR, high stability and tight tolerance by using thin film, thick film and precision heat treatment technologies.
Nikkohm supplies: SMT Thinfilm, SMT Precision Resitors, SMT Shunt Resistors, Precision Resistors and Networks, Power Resistors with TO-Housing, High Power Resistors, RF- and Microwave Components, RF Resistors, Attenuators, Terminations. Nikkohm products are produced by excellent technologies of thermal conduction, thermal stress, high frequency characteristics and humidity protection. The components are processed in such advanced technologies as pvd & sputtering, diffusion process, photo-chemical process and laser processing. Always newly developed highly reliable electronic components of industrial applications are supplied to our customers with Nikkohm’s quality system and the concept of customer satisfy management.
Nikkohm – TO-Housing Power Resistors, RF-Resistors, Attenuators, Terminations, Precision Resistors, Shunt Resistors
NIKKOHM was founded in 1966 with the primary objective of producing microwave attenuator films using Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) technology. Over time, NIKKOHM expanded its business to include the manufacturing of industrial-grade resistors and various film application products. These products encompass thin film thermopiles, thin film precision resistors, thick film high power resistors, microwave terminations, and attenuators.
At Nikkohm, all employees share a deep passion for fixed resistors, and the company’s management and staff are devoted to the field. NIKKOHM’s fascination stems from phenomena related to the electrical conduction mechanisms in polycrystalline metal alloys, thin film alloys, thick film resistors, and the heat conduction of resistors that cannot be fully explained by modern technology.
While Nikkohm can produce precision resistors with temperature coefficients ranging from 0.0 ppm/°C to +1.0 ppm/°C, the exact details of achieving a 1.0 ppm/°C system are not elaborated upon. For instance, in inverter applications where short-duration pulses with a wide frequency range are applied to resistors, it remains challenging to clearly describe how the brief pulse power of a few nanoseconds damages the small area of a thin film resistor and the subsequent heat transfer and transient response. Consequently, resistors continue to be a subject of great interest and inquiry.
In 1986, Nikkohm collaborated with a major global electrical manufacturer to develop a power resistor with a similar appearance to power semiconductors. This achievement greatly contributed to the performance structure of broadband video amplifiers. The introduction of similar products by several companies worldwide, known as power film resistors, helped drive their utilization with the advancement and adoption of inverter technologies, ultimately contributing to energy control and consumption reduction.
Nikkohm’s products offer high performance in terms of precision, temperature coefficient, thermal resistance, and high-frequency properties. Their resistors maintain long-term stability, exhibit low failure rates, and are known for their high reliability.
Nikkohm assures its customers that they are committed to developing resistors that support their work and will continue to provide a steady supply of these products in the future.
