AVX Corporation (AVX), incorporated on September 19, 1989, is a manufacturer and supplier and reseller of a line of passive electronic components, interconnect devices and related products. AVX operates in two segments: Electronic Components; and Interconnect, Sensing and Control Devices. The Company has four main product groups: Ceramic Components; Tantalum Components; Advanced Components; and Interconnect, Sensing and Control Devices.
Electronic Components
The Company manufactures and resell a line of ceramic and tantalum electrolytic capacitors in many different sizes and configurations. Tantalum and ceramic components are commonly used in conjunction with integrated circuits and are suited for applications requiring low to medium capacitance values. Its Capacitance is the measure of the capacitor’s ability to store electric energy. Generally, ceramic capacitors are more cost-effective at lower capacitance values, and tantalum capacitors are more cost-effective at medium capacitance values. It also manufactures and resells a broad line of advanced electronic components to fill the special needs of its customers. Its family of advanced components includes specialized ceramic, tantalum and film capacitors, polymer and EDLC capacitors, high energy/voltage power capacitors, passive and active antennas and varistors.
AVX Corporation is a technology leader in the manufacture of passive electronic components and interconnect products worldwide. The Passive Components segment manufactures a full line of surface mount and leaded ceramic capacitors, radio frequency (RF) thick and thin film components, multi-layer ceramic and tantalum capacitors, film capacitors, ceramic and film power capacitors, super capacitors, EMI filters, thick and thin film packages, varistors, thermistors, inductors, and resistive products.
Interconnect, Sensing and Control
The Company manufacture and resell electronic connectors, interconnect systems, and sensing and control devices for use in various industries. Its product lines include a variety of industry-standard connectors as well as products designed specifically for its customers’ applications. Its Interconnect, Sensing and Control products in the automotive market, with applications throughout a vehicle, including engine control, transmission control, audio, brakes, lighting, and stability and safety control systems. It produces fine pitch connectors used in portable devices such as notebook computers, tablets, GPS, and other handheld devices. In addition, the Company offers specialty connectors designed to address customer specific applications across a range of products and end markets, including the expanding light-emitting diode (LED), liquid crystal display (LCD), and medical devices and hardware markets.
