Meder Electronic Group (“Meder”), founded in 1985 by Bernhard Meder, specializes in designing, manufacturing, and distributing a wide range of magnetic reed switch, reed relay, and reed sensor solutions. The company is headquartered in Singen, Germany, with additional manufacturing facilities located in Singen and Großbreitenbach, Germany; Shanghai, China; and Wareham, Massachusetts. Approximately 40% of Meder’s sales are within Germany, while the remaining 60% are roughly evenly divided between Asia, North America, and other European countries. In comparison, about 85% of Standex Electronics’ sales occur in North America.
The acquisition of Meder expands the combined product portfolio, which now includes Meder’s reed switches, reed relays, and reed sensors, alongside Standex’s reed switch, magnetic, and sensor product lines. This merger enables the global sales teams to offer a more comprehensive range of products and technologies to meet customer demands.
The companies have diverse industry exposure, with Meder being successful in the test & measurement and household markets, while Standex has established a strong presence in the medical, military, and aerospace sectors. SALEM, N.H. — Jul. 10, 2012 – Standex International Corporation (NYSE) announced the acquisition of Meder Electronic Group (“Meder”). Standex Electronics has expanded significantly through several acquisitions, with notable ones including Meder Electronics in 2012 and OKI Sensor Device Corporation, now known as Standex Electronics Japan, in 2017.
