Military (Mil-Spec) Capacitors
The MIL-PRF-32535 X7R, C0G, and BP surface-mount capacitors are engineered, tested, and screened to meet stringent high-reliability requirements for defense and aerospace applications. Built on Base Metal Electrode (BME) technology, these capacitors are qualified under the MIL-PRF-32535 specification and are listed on the QPL. They meet or exceed the standards set by the DLA and are available in two reliability levels: M (standard reliability) and T (high reliability). New voltage options are also available.
These MIL-Spec capacitors are used in critical systems like particle accelerators, pulsed high-field magnets, excimer lasers, high-power microwave sources, and various other demanding applications worldwide. The latest capacitor technologies are deployed in military systems, including radars, and are being integrated into advanced systems such as the Navy’s Electromagnetic Aircraft Launcher (EMALS), Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG), and the Electromagnetic Launch (EML) Proof-of-Concept.
MIL-Spec products undergo extensive testing and qualification, with an approved quality system, baseline process control, tight tolerances, and minimal variability. They are designed for long-term availability and support, ensuring the highest quality capacitors for military research projects and fielded systems globally.
The following MIL-Specs outline the general requirements for high-reliability, general-purpose, and temperature-stable ceramic dielectric fixed capacitors, both leaded and non-leaded, for space, missile, and other high-reliability applications. These capacitors are ideal for frequency-determining circuits, timing applications, and situations where stability is critical, and where small variations in capacitance due to temperature, voltage, frequency, or lifetime are permissible. Life testing is conducted at twice the rated voltage and maximum rated temperature, with an acceleration factor of 8:1 used to correlate test data to performance at rated voltage.
