Thermistors are resistors that change of resistance with a change in temperature. Good qualities of thermistors are a predictable, accurately known resistance value at every temperature in its operating range. The lowering, or rise, depends on the type of thermistor per degree Kelvin (or Celcius, if you prefer), this is called its coefficient. Positive thermal coefficient (PTC) will increase in resistance with an increase in temperature, negative ones (NTC) will decrease.

The SL08 series thermistors feature maximum received energy ratings from 8- to 12-J and handle steady state currents up to 4A. The devices offer a wide range of resistance values from 2.5- to 220-Ω, dissipation constants from 5.2 mw/ degree C to 90 mw/ degree C, and thermal time constants down to 8 sec. The thermistors can handle body temperatures up to 158 degrees C at 100% of their maximum current rating.
