Dow Corning 744 is a high performance silicone adhesive designed to provide a long term bond protecting against thermal shock, environmental attack, moisture and vibration. This high quality product is perfect for applications where room temperature cure is preferred. Dow Corning 744 is excellent for bonding large components such as capacitors or batteries to circuit boards.
Dow Corning 744 is non-sag, one component, room temperature cure material that displays excellent dielectric properties. Once cured the material becomes a flexible white rubber that protects against mechanical shock and thermal cycling stress. It will be stable and flexible from a temperature range of -50 to 180 degrees Celsius. Dow Corning 744 RTV will have excellent adhesion to a wide variety of substrates. All surfaces must be dry and clean before applying the advanced material. It is important to wash off and degrease any contaminates that could weaken adhesion.
Apply a bead of material to the prepared surface then cover quickly with the substrate to be bonded. Once Dow Corning 744 is exposed to moisture in the air it will skin over in approximately 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature with 50% relative humidity. The adhesive is easily tooled with a spatula and it will be tack free in around 30 minutes. Dow Corning 744 will cure in 24 hours at room temperature and 50% relative humidity up to a depth of about 2mm. Deep sections that have restricted atmospheric moisture will take an extended time to cure.
It is significant to comprehend the handling precautions and correct application methods when using Dow Corning 744 RTV. When this high performance silicone adhesive is stored in its unopened container at 30 degrees Celsius or lower, it will be usable up to a year from the date of manufacture. As Dow Corning reacts to moisture in the air, it is important to keep the containers tightly sealed. Pails may experience skin forming on top of the surface.
