Founded in 1954, Richco, Inc. has become a major supplier of plastic components to the electrical and electronics industries. Started in a small candy store-turned manufacturing facility on the northwest side of Chicago, founders Craig Richardson and his brother Charles produced their first part, the e-clamp, using an extrusion machine. They produced and shipped out their first order to a large pinball manufacturer, with the e-clamp quickly gaining popularity thereafter. After Craig and Charles perfected the manufacturing process for their clamp, their business really took off. A machine was later purchased to extrude tape, which then completed the manufacturing cycle for their new plastic component.
