LM79 Linear Voltage Regulators, Texas Instruments
The LM79,LM79L and LM79M are negative voltage regulators by Texas Instruments (TI). These families have fixed output voltages of -5V, -12V or -15 volts. The regulator will need an external compensation capacitor at the output. It is suitable for applications that require 1.5A for the LM79xx, 0.1A for LM79Lxx and 0.5A for LM79M types. The TI family of LM79 features the internal short circuit current limiting and also the thermal overload protection making them a robust Integrated circuit (IC). The low ground pin current allows the output voltage to be easily boosted above the pre-set value with a resistor divider.
LM79: 1.5A Output current
LM79L: 0.1A Output current
LM79M: 0.5A Output current
Low quiescent current
High ripple rejection
Linear Voltage Regulator – Texas Instruments
A linear voltage regulator is a device that maintains a steady voltage. The linear regulator can operate with a small input–output differential voltage. The voltage regulator may offer positive or negative polarity, a fast transient response, wide input voltage range, low quiescent current and even low noise with PSRR.
