There are a number of passive and active temperature sensors that can be used to measure system temperature, including: thermocouple, resistive temperature detector, and silicon temperature sensors. These sensors provide temperature feedback to the system controller to make decisions such as, over-temperature shutdown, turn-on/off cooling fan, temperature compensation or general purpose temperature monitor.

Product Overview

The TMP112AIDRLT is a high accuracy, low power digital temperature sensor in 6 pin SOT-563 package. This digital temperature sensor is ideal for NTC/PTC thermistor replacement where high accuracy is required. The device offers an accuracy of ±0.5°C without requiring calibration or external component signal conditioning. This temperature sensor is highly linear and does not require complex calculations or lookup tables to derive the temperature. The calibrating for improved accuracy feature allows users to calibrate for accuracy as good as ±0.17°C. The TMP112 device has SMBus, two wire and I2C interface compatibility and allows up to four devices on one bus. The device also features SMBus alert function.
