The Amtek USB connector system supports two differentially driven data wires, enabling bi-directional, simultaneous signals for full speed (12Mbps) or low speed (1.5Mbps) in USB systems. Designed for user-friendly applications outside the box, our USB cable connectors include a single, four-position board-mount receptacle and a cable mount overmolded plug. The board-mount receptacles come in standard, Type B, stacked, and side-by-side configurations, enhancing the system’s adaptability to various USB applications.

USB Versions
USB 1.0: Introduced in 1996, operating at a maximum speed of 1.5 Mbit/s.
USB 1.1: Released in 1998, providing a maximum transfer rate of 12 Mbit/s and supporting a maximum current output of 500mA.
USB 2.0: Capable of operating at speeds up to 480 Mbit/s and delivering 1.8 amperes at 5 volts DC. Typically identified by a black plug.
USB 3.0: Introduced in 2008, offering a maximum speed of 5 Gbps. It also supplies 1.8 amperes at 5 volts. USB 3.0 plugs are often blue and feature additional pins for enhanced functionality, with backward compatibility to USB 2.0. Cables are marked with a superspeed logo (SS5).
USB 3.1: Released in 2013, providing a maximum data transfer rate of 10 Gbps. USB 3.1 cables feature a superspeed logo (SS10).
USB 3.2: Introduced in 2017 as an upgrade to USB 3.0, capable of transferring data at 20 Gbps. Cables are marked with a superspeed logo (SS20).
USB4: Launched in 2019 with a maximum data transfer rate of 40 Gbps and supporting power delivery of up to 100 watts. Cables are marked with a superspeed logo (SS40).
USB4 v2: The latest version as of 2022, offering a maximum data transfer rate of 120 Gbps, though cables may not yet be widely available.
