United Monolithic Semiconductors (UMS) is a company formed as a joint venture between Thales and Airbus Defence and Space GmbH to provide a European source for III-V semiconductor products such as GaAs and GaN. UMS designs, manufactures, and markets RF and millimeter-wave components and solutions based on GaAs and GaN technologies, serving sectors including telecommunications, space, defense, automotive, and industrial sensors. In addition to its product offerings, UMS provides foundry services for producing ASICs and SoCs using advanced semiconductor materials like GaAs.

United Monolithic Semiconductors (UMS) designs, manufactures, and markets advanced RF and millimeter-wave Integrated Circuits (ICs) for industries such as Defense & Security, Space, Telecom, Automotive, Industrial Sensors, Medical, and Test Instrumentation. With key locations in France and Germany, and a global sales network, UMS is a strategic supplier to the European defense and space sectors.

UMS offers both catalog (COTS) and custom (ASIC) products, primarily based on its proprietary III-V technologies, including GaAs and GaN. Customers can also leverage UMS’s comprehensive foundry services to develop their own solutions. UMS provides products up to 100GHz, available in bare die, SMD QFN leadless, and hermetic packaging.

The company’s catalog products cover DC to 105GHz and include power amplifiers (up to 200W), mixed-signal functions, low-noise amplifiers, and complete transceiver systems. These products are offered in various formats, including plastic packages, multichip modules, and space-grade hermetic packages.

UMS’s GaAs and GaN technologies are also available in foundry mode, allowing external design centers to create custom solutions. The company maintains major operations in France and Germany, with additional sales offices in the U.S. and Asia. Operating since 1996, UMS is ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 certified, and complies with MIL-STD-883 and MIL-PRF-38534 for space applications.
